Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. Text is extracted in your browser with pdf.js — your file never leaves your device, and there's no signup.

How are headings detected?

Lines set in a noticeably larger font than the body text are marked as Markdown headings (# or ##). It's a heuristic, so double-check important documents.

Will it work on a scanned PDF?

No. Scans are images with no selectable text. Use the Image to Text (OCR) tool to recognise the words first.

Does it keep tables and images?

It recovers text and headings. Complex tables, columns and images aren't reconstructed into Markdown.
