Image to Text (OCR)

Extract text from an image or screenshot right in your browser — nothing is uploaded. Runs on-device with Tesseract.

Processed 100% in your browser — nothing you enter here is ever uploaded.

Common use cases

Pull text out of a screenshot

Copy an error message, a chat, or a code snippet from a screenshot when the original text isn't selectable.

Digitize a document or receipt

Turn a photo of a printed page, invoice, or receipt into editable text without typing it out by hand.

Grab a quote from an image

Extract a caption or quote baked into a social image so you can paste and reuse it as real text.

How to use the Image to Text

Drop an image or screenshot into the box, or click to browse — JPEG, PNG, WebP and GIF up to 20MB are supported. Nothing is uploaded; the whole thing runs on your device.

The first time you use it, a small English language pack (~11MB) downloads once and is cached in your browser — after that the tool works instantly, even offline.

Click "Extract text" and watch the progress bar. Larger or busier images take a little longer because the recognition happens locally on your CPU.

Review the extracted text in the output box, then use Copy to grab it or Download to save it as a .txt file.

For the best results, use a sharp, high-contrast image where the text is roughly upright and not too small — photos of screens or documents work well.
