Is my text sent to a server?

No. The summarizer runs entirely in your browser with a self-hosted AI model. Your text never leaves your device, and after the one-time model download nothing is sent over the network.

Why is the first summary slow?

The first run downloads a ~75MB model once and caches it in your browser. It also uses your device's CPU (or GPU via WebGPU when available), so longer text takes longer. Subsequent runs skip the download.

How good are the summaries?

This uses a small, efficient model chosen so it can run in a browser without uploading your data. It's great for getting the gist, but it's not as polished as a large cloud model — always read the result before relying on it.

Is there a length limit on the input?

The model reads a limited amount of text at once, so very long inputs are trimmed. For long documents, summarize a few paragraphs at a time and combine the results.

Does it need a fast computer?

It works on most modern devices. Browsers with WebGPU run it noticeably faster; otherwise it falls back to a single-threaded WASM engine that still works, just more slowly.
